Air pollution caused by dust emissions is a serious problem for most
industries. Industrial hygiene must be given more attention now that its
relation to worker health has been clearly established. The principle of
bag filtration is recognized as the safest and most efficient for dust
collection. AIREX Industries has been designing and manufacturing bag
type dust collectors for many years.
Theory of operation
Dust laden air enters the collector via the hopper,
ensuring excellent protection for the bag and metal parts against
abrasion; the reduced speed of the air permits the heaviest particles to
settle to the bottom of the hopper. The finer particles are carried
upwards and deposited on the inside of the filter bags. The clean air is
released at the top of the VIBROTUBE modules through flanged exhaust
ducts.

Operation modes
Intermittent Operation
For intermittent operation, the air flow must be interrupted
periodically for fabric reconditioning. The frequency or reconditioning
will depend upon the quantity and size of the dust particles. An
adjustable timer is available to activate the shaker motors for a
pre-determined interval each time the fan is turned off.
Continuous Operation
Continuous systems require more than one VIBROTUBE unit. Periodically,
one unit is isolated by individual automatic dampers for reconditioning
while remaining units clean the exhaust gas stream. A field adjustable
programmer progressively activates damper valve in each collector. As
the damper(s) close(s), air is diverted to the remaining units. After a
brief null period, the shaker mechanism is energized to recondition the
fabric. After a pre-set interval, the damper valve(s) then reopen(s) and
the next unit is reconditioned. After the cleaning cycle is completed,
all the VIBROTUBES are "on line". The programmer may be adjusted as
required to suit individual applications. A pre-wired electrical control
panel is available with each continuous duty VIBROTUBE. It can include
shaker motor starter, control voltage step-down transformer, control
timer and an on-off selector switch mounted in a dust-tight enclosure.

Construction
The Airex VIBROTUBE dust collector is constructed of
12 gauge hot rolled steel, reinforced to sustain a 20'' W.G" pressure or
vacuum. Housing joints are welded inside and outside to provide an
air-tight and solid construction.
Shaker Beams
Hexagonal type beams are supported at both ends by
sealed ball bearings. This ensures a very smooth operation and increases
the life of the mechanical parts.
Ease of Access
The shaker assembly is accessible form the outside by
an access ladder and a 30'' wide catwalk. A large, (18'' x 48'') door
provides entry to the interior where a 16'' wide walkway runs the length
of the collector.
Low Installation and Maintenance Costs
The modular construction of the VIBROTUBE minimizes
installation costs since the mounting is the only field work required.
Bags can then be installed and the electrical wiring completed. One man
alone can install or replace bags because of their simplified design.
Cell Plate
Airex Industries cell plates are made of heavy gauge
hot rolled steel reinforced to sustain required pressures. A specially
designed collar provides an efficient seal between the dirty air and the
clean air side. The metal surface of the collar is smooth and has no
sharp edges, to reduce bag wear. |
