The Modular series is Airex Industries’ lower end line of shaker dust collector. It also happens to be the only open type unit in the line up, meaning that the filters are not enclosed as with the other models.
The purpose of this shaker dust collector is to circumvent the limitation imposed by the NFPA regulation; being an open type, the Modular series is not restricted by the fact that systems above 1 500 cfm need to be equipped with all anti-deflagration devices.
It is ideal for those who are on a very tight budget and cannot afford the more efficient and much more convenient higher end models of shaker dust collector.
The Modular M Series is the ultimate solution for dust filtration of various applications without the use of any available compressed air. It is an automated, modular, shaker type, dust collector requiring minimal supervision and maintenance.
The SCS and the SCST series are termed as mechanical "shakers"; these shaker dust collector rely upon an automated mechanism that allows them to initiate the shaking process by themselves instead of having a user pulling on a lever in order to start the filter dislodging process. Construction is solid and of industrial quality.
The SCS and the SCST can be equipped with a centrifugal fan with an input power ranging from 3 to 15 HP.
The polyester woven felt filter allows for highly efficient filtration. The fabric is specially treated to facilitate the removal of dust.
The SCS and the SCST are actually two variants of the same model of shaker dust collector:
- The SHORT HOPPER model, the SCS, allows for the use of barrels to collect the dust.
- The LONG HOPPER model, the SCST, allows for the installation of a rotary airlock and a container under the hopper.

Efficient Filter
The needle felt filter, made of 100 % polyester, supplies high efficiency filtration.
The fabric is specially treated to facilitate the removal of the dust particles.
Other types of filters fabrics are also available for special applications. The filter section consists of a number of inverted "V" shaped pockets stitched into a single filter element. The filter section is supported on the top by elastics and on the bottom by a metal frame.
Fan Assembly
The fan and motor are mounted on a vertical axis at the top of the unit. The impellor and its casing are inside the cabinet, while the motor is outside for easy maintenance. The impellor rotor blade is backward inclined, of high efficiency type and ensures maximum performance with minimal power consumption.
Easy & Economic Maintenance
The modular system has a shaking mechanism that oscillates the filter frame in order to dislodge the dust build-up. This operation prevents blockage of the filter and ensures an efficient functioning of the system. To ensure regular cleaning of the filter element, the shaking mechanism is operated by a controller incorporating the fan starter that automatically brings the shaker motor into operation each time the fan is stopped. The 45-gallon drum is optional.

How the Modular Shaker Dust Collector Work
The Modular series is so simple in its functions that one could qualify it as a rudimentary air filtering solution. The dust-laden air enters the shaker dust collector through a fan intake that blows everything inside the dry filter fabrics; the modular series is one of the few models by Airex Industries that happens to collect the dust particles inside the filter bags.
As stated above, the Modular series does not provide the convenience of the other dust collectors that happen to include an additional dust removal system from the dry filter media; such a system greatly expands the longevity of the filter bags and increases their short-term effectiveness. Because it collects dust within the filter bags, the static pressure drops considerably as the media is saturated and as it reach their limit.
How the M Series Shaker Dust Collector Work
The simple and efficient technology of the M series system integrates four main components: the cabinet, the filter section, the hopper and the dust collector bin. Once the air enters the unit, a reduction in velocity occurs and the heavy particles fall into the shaker dust collector’s bin. The fine dust is carried in the air stream upwards into the filter element. The air is propelled through the filter element while the dust is filtered out into the inside surface. Clean air can be recirculated or exhausted outside depending on the application.
How the SCS & SCST Series Shaker Dust Collector Work
The dust is drawn into the dust collector where the velocity of the dust is reduced. The heaviest particles fall directly into the hopper, while the finest particles are drawn into the interior surface of the bags. The air coming through the bags is now clean and can either be recirculated within the plant or discharged outside.
Cleaning
Cleaning the bags can be done with a manual shaker arm or an electrical shaker. The frequency of cleaning depends on the quantity and type of dust particles. While cleaning the bags, the fan must be stopped.
