Water Table and Powder Torch Cutter

Challenge

Custom powder torch cutting water table. This torch using high pressure air and steel shot is used to cut 10" plus thick steel. The massive cuts produced smoke that filled a 40’ bay within minutes. Visibility and health were very important issues.

Solution

Standard down draft tables do not work and due to the water overhead hoods are not efficient. We came up with a movable snorkel to follow the torch head and source capture the pollutants.

Our double snorkel design allowing for movable source capture. This setup minimizes air requirements and maximizes filter efficiency. Cyclone pre-filter used as spark arrestor.

The new arrangement works to maintain the area clean and free of lingering smoke. Visibility for the operator greatly improved.
