Plasma Cutting

Summer 2007

Challenge

Standard torch cutting water table with standard down draft tables do not work. Overhead hoods are not efficient and require large volume of air. They are also highly influenced by cross drafts. The smoke from cutting on these table created health issues and productivity of cuts due to visibility.

Solution

We came up with a movable snorkel to follow the torch head and source capture the pollutants.

Our double snorkel design allowing for movable source capture. This setup minimizes air requirements and maximizes filter efficiency. Cyclone pre-filter used as spark arrestor.

The new arrangement works to maintain the area clean and free of lingering smoke. Visibility for the operator greatly improved.
